”The Women in Culture” Celebration: A Vibrant Showcase at CCCNIG

The Chinese Embassy and China Cultural Center in Nigeria(CCCNIG), in collaboration with the Society of Nigerian Artists, co-hosted ”The Women in Culture” Celebration on March 8^th 2024. This event aimed to recognize the invaluable contributions of women and the enduring spirit of collaboration and appreciation between China and Nigeria.

In attendance were wives of the Ambassadors of China, Greece, Thailand, India, Swiss, Israel, Hungary, Türkiye, Vietnam, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Mr Li Xuda, Deputy Director of CCCNIG Mr. Liu Zhanping, Representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art Culture and Creative Economy, V.C of National University of Science and Technology Abuja Prof Joseph Ahaneku, President of the Society of Nigerian Artists Mr. Mohammed Suleiman among others.

The evening commenced with a brief introduction of dignitaries by Ms Edi-ima Friday which was followed by National anthems from both Nations. The Wife of the Ambassador of China to Nigeria Madam Liang Huili delivered a welcome speech and the Representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Art Culture and Creative Economy gave a goodwill message also. Their words emphasized the great role of women in national development, echoed the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding in strengthening bilateral ties.

As the program unfolded, attendees were treated to a amazing display of talent and tradition. The President of the Society of Nigerian Artists delivered an inspiring goodwill message, underscoring the significance of cultural expression in fostering unity and diversity.

One of the highlights of the evening was a captivating performance of traditional Chinese dance by three cute Chinese little girls Xu Ruochen, Wei Yuechen and Liu Shuhan. Their lovely movements and vibrant costumes transported the audience to the heart of Chinese culture, eliciting admiration and applause.

The enchanting melodies of Chinese songs, performed by the Capital Voice Choir, further enriched the cultural atmosphere of the event. The harmonious voices resonated with the audience, bridging language barriers and celebrating the universal language of music.

A special group performance by female staff members from Energy China and CCCNIG showcased the collaborative spirit and camaraderie. Their rendition of a Chinese song captivated the audience and underscored the power of cultural exchange in fostering mutual appreciation and respect.

The celebration also featured a delightful showcase of Nigerian song and dance by the Drum Majors for Peace. Their energetic performance celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of the nation's artistic expression.

In addition to the performances, attendees were treated to a visual feast with flower arrangements and demonstrations by talented ladies from the Chinese Embassy and CCCNIG. Their meticulous craftsmanship and artistic flair added a touch of elegance to the event, further enhancing the cultural experience for all present.

As the wonderful function drew to a close, Mr. Li Xuda extended a warm vote of thanks to all participants and attendees.
