Fuzhou: Having both Ecological and Fishery Achievements

Under the warm autumn sun, a new batch of eels has just been fished out and transported to the inside and outside of the province at the "China Eel Valley" breeding base in TianmaTechnology, Shangjing Town, Fuqing. In the greenhouse, as soon as the "meal" arrives, groups of eels flock to grab food.

Standing by the breeding pool, Yang Ming, the person in charge of the base, talked about the "new trend" of the base: a sink was built by the pool for excrement collection, waste water purification and recycling, and a fiber filter was installed in the factory building to filter tiny impurities such as bug eggs and other fish eggs.

To raise fish, the water must be good. Nearly 20 years of eel farming experience has made Yang Ming pay special attention to the water in eel farming. "In the past, eel farming had to be changed twice a day in order to protect the living environment of fish, but now it is completely different". He used a set of data to illustrate the "difference": before the green transformation, 400 large fish ponds like the base consumed at least 40,000 tons of water per day; after "internal circulation" is adopted, only about 5% of water is changed every day, which reduces the pressure of aquaculture waste water treatment in the external circulation system.

After saving water, how should we improveefficiency? At the base, the waste bait in the waste water is collected as fertilizer nutrients and put into the "central kitchen" of plants to realize ecological multi-level chain resource utilization, while the clean water enters the "aquaponics" system to start the second cycle.

It is understood that three fifths of eels in Fujian are produced in Fuzhou. However, behind the large output, problems such as large water consumption and difficult waste water treatment have become increasingly prominent. To solve the problem fundamentally, we must make an innovation.

As a national key leading enterprise of agricultural industrialization, TianmaTechnology laid out the green development plate more than 10 years ago, and gradually explored the "planting and breeding integration" green dual circulation mode. "Eighty percent of the water in the aquaculture pond can be recycled, and only 20 percent of the water enters the external circulation ecosystem for treatment. The base is expected to save 10 million tons of water a year, saving nearly RMB 100 million in cost." Yang Ming said that after all the bases are put into operation, the annual eel culture can reach over 7,000 tons, and the output value can be about RMB 1 billion.

Green exploration is still gradual. Last year, Tianma Technology turned its attention to "electricity" and built a green development model of "generating electricity in the upper part and raising fish in the lower part". In cooperation with the enterprise Guoneng (Fuzhou) Thermal Power Co., Ltd., photovoltaic panels were erected on the roof of a 160,000 square meter breeding shed, and the surplus electricity was connected to power grid for self-use. After completion and commissioning, the annual carbon dioxide emissions could be reduced by over 15,000 tons.

While the green "pile foundation" is firmly laid, the production is also working in the same direction.

Quarantine eel seedlings entering the factory; Research and development of eel initial material to solve the problem of red worm pollution; Efficient environment-friendly feed, research and development of animal protection products to protect eel liver, realize non-resistant breeding, improve feed conversion rate, and "escort" the healthy growth of eel... From seedling source, feeding, prevention and health care, to food deep processing, etc., the green development concept was deeply integrated, and the pace of transformation and upgrading is constantly accelerated.
