A Harvard Law School debate examined the TikTok ban and its national security implications. Professor Alan Rozenshtein supported the law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok, citing risks of data harvesting and algorithmic manipulation. Professor Anupam Chander opposed it, arguing that the concerns were speculative and raised First Amendment issues. Both agreed the government should have acted earlier. Concerns over propaganda, especially after pro-Palestinian content surged post-Oct. 7 attacks, influenced bipartisan support for the ban. The debate also discussed potential extensions and the rise of alternative apps like RedNote.
Moderator Jonathan Zittrain (from left) and Anupam Chander listen as Alan Rozenshtein (far right) shares concerns about TikTok and its potential threat to national security.
Harvard’s *Flyby Matchmaker* set up first-years Marianne Wang ’28 and Praneel P. Khiantani ’28 on a blind date, only for them to realize they were already friends from Expos. They met at Ten One Tea House, grabbed boba, and later struggled to eat a jelly dessert at Berg while catching up on classes and life. Their friends were surprised to see them together, but the pairing successfully rekindled their friendship. Both found the experience enjoyable, with Praneel praising the matchmakers' efforts. The event encouraged students to sign up for future matchmaking.

A new study shows that the increased risk of heart disease in people with diabetes can appear up to 30 years before diagnosis. The link between diabetes and cardiovascular disease stems from shared risk factors like abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, and unhealthy lipid levels. Prevention strategies include exercise, weight management, and a heart-healthy diet. New medications, such as SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, not only help control blood sugar but also reduce heart disease risk. Experts recommend early screening for diabetes, especially for those who are overweight.
As climate change extends pollen seasons and increases pollen levels, allergy sufferers face worsening symptoms over longer periods. Higher carbon dioxide levels are fueling plant growth, leading to more allergens like ragweed and grass pollen. Experts recommend coping strategies such as monitoring pollen counts, starting allergy medications early, minimizing outdoor exposure, wearing masks, and using indoor air filtration. Distinguishing allergies from respiratory illnesses is crucial, and those with worsening symptoms should consult a doctor. With allergy seasons intensifying, proactive management is key to reducing discomfort.
This article highlights a four-move chair-based workout designed to improve strength and flexibility, especially for those recovering from injuries or with physical limitations. Exercises include chair push-ups (arms and chest), chair stands (core and legs), hip extensions (glutes and thighs), and body stretches (core and back). Each movement can be modified for difficulty, making it accessible to all fitness levels. With Americans spending long hours sitting, incorporating these exercises can help counteract sedentary habits and support overall mobility and balance.
