Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum is located in the northeast of Qishan Lake Park in Fuzhou, and is located in the shared area in the center of the university town, with a land area of about 50 mu and a total construction area of about 50000 square meters. It will be built according to the national first-class museum standards, with the goal of building a spiritual home for overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, a platform for exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, a service window for overseas Chinese in the new era, and an information think tank for overseas Chinese, and strive to become a temple showing the eternal charm and value of overseas Chinese culture, better witnessing history, learning from history and enlightening future generations.

The launching ceremony was hosted by Fujian Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Fujian Overseas Chinese Federation and Fuzhou Municipal Government, undertaken by Fuzhou Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Fuzhou Overseas Chinese Federation and Fuzhou Cultural Relics Bureau, and co-organized by Fuqing Municipal Government, with the theme of “Building a Root-seeking Project to Cohesive Overseas Chinese’s Heart and Strength”. Other overseas Chinese-related collections, including the models of two white horse city sculptures in Wuyi Square donated by my late father, the model of Yuying Building in Minjiang College and the letters and materials of my late father before his death, have been approved by my mother and are planned to be donated to Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum.

Proposal for Collection and Historical Materials of Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum
Dear overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese and their relatives and people from all walks of life,
Fujian is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China, with more than 20 million overseas Chinese from Fujian. Overseas Chinese in Fujian have a long history, and it is the common aspiration of overseas Chinese at home and abroad to build an overseas Chinese museum which integrates the collection, protection, research and display of overseas Chinese’s history, culture and its witnesses. In order to speed up the construction of Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum, enrich the collection system of the museum, treasure the historical memory of overseas Chinese, inherit the cultural genes of overseas Chinese, maintain the spiritual blood and emotional ties of the vast number of overseas Chinese, and promote the exchange and mutual learning between Fujian and the world civilization, the collection of collections and historical materials of Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum is hereby initiated.
I. Scope of collection
(1) Physical objects, pictures and audio-visual products from overseas Chinese groups at home and abroad and their overseas Chinese leaders, Chinese schools, Chinese media and other organizations and their representatives, as well as outstanding overseas Chinese and their relatives from all walks of life.
(2) Historical and commemorative books, calligraphy and paintings, works of art, genealogy, family letters and other physical materials and audio-visual products created or collected by overseas Chinese.
(3) Physical objects, pictures and audio-visual products that reflect overseas Chinese’s support for China’s revolution and construction, the promotion of civilized exchanges, and their contribution to the economic development and social progress of the country where they live.
(4) Representative physical objects, pictures and audio-visual products that reflect the social production and life of overseas Chinese in various historical periods.
(5) Other physical objects, pictures and audio-visual products related to overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese.
II. Types of collection
(1) Physical objects, documents and materials reflecting overseas Chinese’s overseas journey, earning a living and starting a business, and their customs, religious beliefs, and engaging in industrial, agricultural and commercial activities in the country where they live, including but not limited to: overseas documents, luggage, overseas Chinese’s approval, photos, letters, bonds, money orders, travel tickets, production equipment, shop (company) plaques, licenses, seals, account books, genealogy and marriage certificates.
(2) Physical objects, documents and materials that reflect the policies, laws and regulations of China and other countries in the world on nationality, citizenship, immigration, study abroad, employment and residence of overseas Chinese in various historical periods.
(3) Physical objects and documents of overseas Chinese delegations, Chinese schools, media and other organizations and individuals participating in and supporting China’s revolution, national construction and charitable disaster relief, including but not limited to: articles of association, school emblem, school uniforms, certificates, journals, newspapers and periodicals, emblem, donation orders, receipts, military supplies, military medals, certificates, souvenirs, writings, textbooks and other physical objects and materials.
(4) Physical objects and materials of outstanding overseas Chinese, including but not limited to: precious photos, inscriptions, works, manuscripts, letters, documents, recordings and other objects and materials of scientists, politicians, militarists, artists, writers, thinkers and entrepreneurs.
(5) Physical objects and materials reflecting the life, study and work of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives at home and abroad, including but not limited to: certificates, photos, letters, costumes, awards, medals, remittances, foreign exchange, production equipment, etc.
(6) Historical materials such as audio-visual, oral history and pictures of overseas Chinese and their relatives.

IV. collection method
(1) Donation. Overseas Chinese and their relatives at home and abroad are welcome to donate their collections voluntarily.
(2) Copy. If the donation is in the form of a copy, Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum will negotiate with the owner of the collection to make a copy.
(3) Borrowing exhibitions. If a unit or individual voluntarily lends the collection to the Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum for exhibition, the Fujian Overseas Chinese Museum will sign a loan agreement with it.
(4) Purchase. For the collection that is legally owned by a unit or individual and has high economic value, the collection that meets the collection standards shall be evaluated with reference to the market conditions on the premise that the owner voluntarily sells it, and shall be purchased according to the relevant financial regulations after the approval of both parties.
