On May 28, the inauguration ceremony of the second session of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Fuzhou Association of Associations was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of CPPCC, Chen Dong, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Lin Baojin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chen Guoji, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Peng Lingguo, deputy director of the Third Bureau of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee and deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, and Li Jiarong, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee, participated in the event.

On behalf of the municipal Party committee, the municipal government and the people in his hometown, Lin in his speech congratulated the members of the new Council on their election and inauguration. He said that since its establishment in 2017, the Hong Kong Fuzhou Association of Associations has always adhered to the founding purpose of “unity, cooperation, cohesion and innovation”, united Fujian people to love country, love Hong Kong, support the SAR government’s administration according to law, actively participate in Hong Kong social affairs, promote exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong. It is hoped that the they will continue to carry forward excellent traditions,unite forces from all walks of life, promote cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong, make efforts to build a bridge of friendship between Fujian and Hong Kong.

Lin said that Fuzhou is a blessed state. General Secretary Xi Jinping worked and lived in Fujian for 17 and a half years, including 13 years in Fuzhou. He led Fuzhou’s modernization for 6 years, creating a series of important ideas and major practices, leaving behind many ideological wealth, spiritual wealth and practical achievements. At present, Fuzhou is thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, unswervingly following the direction guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping, adhering to the essence of the “3820” strategic project thought and drawing a blueprint to the end in accordance with the deployment requirements of the provincial Party committee and government, and speeding up the construction of a modern international city. This requires the joint efforts of the whole city, and it is also inseparable from the joint efforts of Fujian people in Hong Kong. He hoped that everyone can be more active, stick to patriotism and love for Hong Kong, contribute to the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong in the practice of “one country, two systems”, and strive for greater glory in serving the overall situation of the country; hope everyone can continue to take advantage of their familiarity with the cultures and markets of the two places, actively connect resources and smooth channels, and play a greater role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong. Lin Baojin attended the 2023 Fuzhou-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference and project signing activities.

On the morning of May 29, the 2023 Fuzhou-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference and the signing of major cooperation projects were held, and 17 major cooperation projects with a total investment of about RMB 25.5 billion were signed on site, covering marine economy, financial services, park construction and other fields. Lin Baojin attended and delivered a speech. Lin said that during Xi’s work in Fuzhou, Fujian, he attached great importance to the exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong, and advocated the establishment of an exchange and cooperation mechanism and platform carrier, which laid a solid foundation for the continuous deepening of cooperation between Fujian and Hong Kong. Lin sincerely hope that Fujian and Hong Kong will carry forward the fine traditions of General Secretary Xi Jinping in those years, make good use of the important platform carriers such as China-Indonesia “Double countries, Twin parks” and Fuzhou New District, focus on the fields of digital economy, marine economy, financial trade, shipping logistics, cultural tourism and cultural creation, jointly explore the market, cultivate new growth points, promote exchanges and cooperation to a wider field, a deeper level and a higher level, and jointly write a new chapter.

Lin said that for a long time, they have worked hard, united and cooperated, cared about the motherland, made suggestions and contributions to the development of their hometown in various ways, and explained their feelings and responsibilities with practical actions. He hoped that everyone will further build consensus, enhance unity, be honest and friendly, shoulder the mission bravely, and strive to be a supporter of “one country, two systems”, an important participant in the construction of a modern international city, and a powerful advocate for the development of hometown.
