Lin Zhiping from the Huli District

has been selected for the Sixth Batch of

Provincial-Level Representative Inheritors of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Fujian Province.

On April 29, the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released the sixth batch of provincial-level representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, listing a total of 184 people. Up to now, Fujian Province has 187 national-level representative inheritors and 1,096 provincial-level representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage.

Xiamen Dazuigu Comic Storytelling

is a narrative and comedic form of rap art

performed in the Minnan dialect.

Known for its vibrant, lively,

and humorous use of Minnan slang and colloquial expressions,

it skillfully captures characters and tells stories,

distinctively as one of the traditional folk arts of the Minnan region.

In recent years,

Lin Zhiping has performed

Dazuigu in thousands of shows on various stages,

earning widespread acclaim

and numerous awards for his amazing performances.

With 24 years of experience in the performing arts, Lin Zhiping is a member of the China Quyi Artists Association. Studying under masters You Guodong and Cai Shaoqi, he is both a skilled performer and a creative artist who excels at drawing inspiration from everyday life and employs techniques such as "creating something out of nothing," "exaggeration," "making a mountain out of a molehill," and "serendipitous humor" to achieve strong comedic effects in his performances. He has actively brought Dazuigu into communities and schools, where he has cultivated three officially recognized representative inheritors, mentored three disciples, and trained 15 emerging talents. Lin Zhiping also planned and edited "Ping's Lifelong Passion" and "Echoes of Home", two publications that serve as valuable resources for the study and preservation of Dazuigu. During the nationwide campaign against organized crime, he delivered over 300 performances, including "Evil Will Be Punished" and "This Battle Will Be Won", the latter of which was featured in People’s Daily and earned him numerous awards across various levels.

Lin has devoted himself wholeheartedly

to the creation and performance of Dazuigu.

While faithfully preserving this traditional art form,

he continues to explore innovation.

he has been actively involved in training,

mentoring and other heritage work,

In 2019, the Huli Jiafuyun Art Troupe was officially established, with Lin serving as its head instructor. So far, the art troupe has conducted 486 classes across more than 20 schools, libraries, and community academies throughout the city, reaching over a thousand people. It has also organized over 220 student performances across more than 80 events. He has been honored with multiple titles, including "Outstanding Lecturer" in Xiamen's Theoretical Publicity Cavalry, "Excellent Off-campus Counselor for Young Pioneers in Xiamen," "Outstanding Community Culture and Arts Contributor," and "Volunteer for Community Culture and Arts Performances in Xiamen."

Looking ahead, the Huli District will remain committed to both preservation and innovation.

By working closely with representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage,

the District seeks to explore contemporary paths for the development of Dazuigu.

Through enhancing content and form,

it will help revitalize this traditional performing art,

bringing sharper laughs and stronger appeal to today's audiences.
